XGL

Hi all, a friend of mine recently bought my attention the awesomeness that is XGL. I managed to google around and find this great video. I was wondering if maybe one of the our fantastic panelists would like to take a look and do a bit of a review on it. Some of the visuals look a little like WindowsFX to me. All the same, very nice looking, haven't had enough of a play to see the functionality yet.

Xgl/Compiz is fun eye candy but not much more

I've found that XGL has been quite useful. The transparancy is great when you have to view two overlapping windows and only have one monitor. My only gripe with it is the darkening of idle windows by default and accidentally spinning around the cube with the mouse wheel.

Of course Vista had those wavey windows in early betas... but they were taken out due to their uselessness and annoyance factor.

I have not tried it yet... too enthralled in Vista.
