Why, why, why, why, why?

Windowblinds updates

Why is it everytime there's an update to Windowblinds, it goes tits up? This time I updated rebooted as requested and now my windows aren't skinned and WB won't even load! It asks me to reboot, nothing, asks me to force, nothing, why do I have to disable my anti virus and spyware protection for it to work, when it's never asked me before?

Is there any point to these updates? Will WB ever come out of BETA stage? I am a loyal and paying WB Stardock customer, but always seem to run into problems when updates are available.

A sad user.

PS I hate Windows Classic theme.

Umm, you could always NOT use the betas... They *are* test builds, after all. Just use the latest stable versions and you should be better off!

If you have problems with the Betas use the offical release. As stated no one is forcing you to use them and the stable version is availiable, use it and quit complaining about a beta.

Last I knew if you installed a beta, you were supposed to understand that it wasn't a release quality product. I know that Stardock has spoiled me with a long list of betas that work great, but I do understand that If I have a problem with a beta I need to report the problem so a fix can be made and then go back to a previous version that worked for me....

First of all problem has been solved from a reinstall, why God only knows. Anyway, it still shows as a BETA in Stardock Central, or am I going mad?
Thanks for the support too!

Uncheck Show pre-release versions at bottom of page.

If you get that message it usually means the install went wrong and a key WB file is either missing or not in the registry correctly.

It has been reported that if you uninstall WB and then install a new version and then reboot you can end up with some critical WB files missing.  Upgrading over the existing build is fine, or if you must uninstall the old one then please ensure you do reboot after doing the uninstall and before the reinstall.

Thanks for your reply, which ever way I go about it, I still get the BETA message, hence the reason why I thought it was still in BETA phase. Let's see what happens at the next update?

With show pre-release unchecked the stable version will show as available, once you install it the [Beta] will go away .

Yeah, your list shows that you have a beta version installed.

1. Uncheck "Show pre-release versions" at the bottom of the SDC window you've shown above.

2. Uninstall your current version of WB5.

3. Reboot.

4. Open SDC & you 'should' see the release version showing in the Available column.
