Can't access wincustomize website....

from Stardock Forums
but I can access www.stardock.com and forums.stardock.com. I miss not being able to visit the site. I need my daily fix.

"Could not connect to remote server"

I can view Stardock.com with no problems. I can access forums.stardock.com, but all of the graphics don't appear. I can't access wincustomize at all. If I use SDC I can DL updated apps, but I can't access the wincustomize forums or the skins.

Could it be firewall?

Type "ping www.wincustomize.com" [enter]

I'm having the same problem. The WinCustmize page will load, but the graphics are replaced with little white boxes with black borders. I get the same results using IE or Firefox. However, the WinCustmize site works fine at work using either IE or Firefox.

We had one of our servers die off last week.  That server had WinCustomize and our Image server on it.  We moved it to a new server and in doing so the IP address changed for www.wincustomize.com and images.stardock.com.

To me it sounds like you DNS has not updated to use the new ip address.  One thing to try is open a command prompt and enter the following command.

      ipconfig /flushdns

This may flush the DNS of the old  IP address and grab the new ip address.

To verify you are seeing the correct IP address enter the following commands from a command prompt window:

      ping www.wincustomize.com

      ping images.stardock.com

for WinCustomize.com it shoud resolve to the IP address of 38.99.229.8 and for images.stardock.com it should resolved to 66.28.242.210.

If you see the ip address of 66.28.242.218 then your ISP has not updated their DNS records and you may want to contact them about this problem.

That didn't help, thanks for the suggestion though! I haven't been able to download any skins for about 5 days now. Everytime I click on the download links, it just hangs. If I click on other links to go to different sections, everything loads except for the pics amd then it just hangs there too. ???

I tried flushing the DNS yesterday, but it didn't work. The ISP wasn't much help......a suprise.

I can access the site by typing http://66.28.242.218(the old IP), but all of the graphics aren't displayed.

I can't access the new IP address.

Any other suggestions?

I have that same problem.

I can login, submit, comments, etc, but... I can't view a good deal of the images.
When I first come on Wincustomize, everything looks normal, but if I click a category such as walls, blinds, etc.
all I get that little white shadowed box as well. I can't download anything. Now, this is all from Firefox & IE.
My Wincustomize browser is fine.

I'm wondering how many of you are running "Zonealarm" ....

Every now and then, when you update Zonealarm ...settings get hosed.

You need to re-configure it, to get the images to show.

Riahon ...[In Internet Explorer] try going into Tools/Internet Options/privacy tab ...and set the option to 'medium' ...then click on the 'sites' button [on the same tab], and add this website's url, ~click on the "allow" button.

...Just a hunch, and it may work.

It's been several days since I've been able to download anything as well.

I flushed the dns and was able to ping "images.stardock.com" but no luck with "www.wincustomize.com"

It did this once before and resolved itself after a couple of weeks.

So I'll wait another week before I go down there and crack some heads

Ok, I have restored the old IP address  for WinCustomize.com that should help.  If anyone still has issues I need to know an example of an exact URL that is failing and what error message you are receiving.

Mine still not showing images.

home page;totally fine... I can see all thumbnail previews.
But if I click on any preview image, it does take me to the next page, but no image, just the square box.

Click on walls, or any gallery and suddenly no images.
