Bad Install Discs

Help!

I am getting the following error text during installation on disc two. I can retry enternally it seems and it tells me to swap discs over and over and over... But it always ends with this error text...

This is the exact text. The message box header reads: "Install"
"An I/O error occured while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file."

Some one from support please let me know what to do now.

Copy was purchased today at a retail outlet.

Well, if you have a first hand GCII copy, you should have a serial Id that isn't yet registred.
If you have a very good internet connexion on the computer where you want to nstall GC2, you could use Stardock Central to install the whole game: you can download the whole game (in the latest version) as long as you have a valid serial id.

Thanks for the tip. I installed the frontend and I am dl/ing the install files now...

BUT, I still want my cd's replaced. I paid full price for a "hard copy" and I want my cd replaced. Someone from support please contact me with instructions on how to return/replace my defective discs please...

This is not working either...

I have two discs and several software progs from this company on my PC and my PC desk...

It would be extra nice if the actual GAME was among these peices of work I purchased and spent my free time trying to install over my holiday weekend...

If I do not hear something soon from someone in support about replacing these discs they are going back to the store.

You should return the bad copy to the store where you bought it for a replacement copy of the game.

What do you mean exactly?

Methinks you may have:

[ ]Virus/Virii
[ ]Spyware
[ ]Rootkit(s)
[ ]Bad Drivers

since you don't seem able to install the game via SDC and the hardcopy CDs. Might make sense to make sure your system is clean before returning the CDs.

I had to return the game twice before I got a good copy of disc two. Had the same problem you did.

errr....

Just to clarify, my discs were fine. I had a malware/virus on my PC that was screwing with new installations (in an effort to twart its removal by anti-spam tools no less!).

You usually need to run a couple spyware programs. Ad-Aware and Spybot. Between the two they get 99% of what's out there.

Oh, stop using Internet Explorer and Outlook and you won't get spyware anymore.
