Bigger maps

big

Hello I posted this question before (I think) but then my net froze.

Anyway do you know if there is any way to make the map much much bigger? Say 64x64? Or more?

Thanks in advance

Oh yes and what I forgot: It should be random maps in the game, not a scenario, if possible. I like normal random games, but just with much bigger maps to simulate the lonely feeling of vast empty space...

Hmmm... this does not appear on the list of postings.

Hallo? is anyone out there?

Space is too big already and has swallowed my posting

It takes time. One bump is generally accepted, two is pushing it.

The map isn't any bigger because of the processing power that would be required for the AI to deal with it. Making the map twice as big actually increases the number of tiles by a factor of four.

Although it would take more processing power, it should still be an option for those of us who love super large maps. One of the best things about Civ 3 was the ability to play incredibly huge maps ( I used to play 300 x 240, or 72,000 squares).

Why not leave the decision up to the user, they know if will know if the have the horsepower necessary.

I completely agree... even in CIV_4 an editor was developed which can allow gamers to play maps of size 5000 X 5000. My brothers high end gaming system can only do 200 X 200(beyond huge)... which gives an idea of how enormous this can be.

I agree, this is definitely a feature I've been looking for. Tried hackin it out by just making a map that's 36x36. But anything higher than 18x18 instantly crashes the game

Would loooooove to see support for bigger games. Throw in a warning screen, say that it could crash your computer or do whatever you have to, just give us bigger map support! Please!

So it is true, it seems not possible. I will try to emulate the effect by setting the number of stars to very rare (and inhabitable planets to rare too), but I think it is not the real thing. It may make space stations deep deep in space necessary, but there will not be enough plantes
