No nevermind I read the wiki and It says to go to galciv2\data\engilish this is where the xml files are. Exept my galciv2 folder is not like that, I dont have a folder titled "data" in my main galciv2 folder I must go galciv2\mods\data then to customplanet ect folder which are empty, and the wrong place to go.

@Phantom Elite

the folder your are describing is not your GC2 folder (probably in \my documents\). its just the place where the savegames and stuff go.

the real GC2 folder by default is somewhere here: \program files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\

The default directory for most of the XML files is C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Data\English

Personally I use ConTEXT to edit all of my XML files. You can download it from this site http://www.context.cx/

Before you save any changes to an XML make sure you make a copy of the file and change the copy from .xml to .bak so you can always restore things if there are any problems. After you edit the XML you need to go to the following directory

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2

and delete all save and preference files before your changes will take effect.
