ah, marcathonas, you should know that most of the pages on that link were us having intelligent conversation, after our troll left that is. and we did try to answer his question, and i can say, and i think i speak for el conquest, and the others (well you were there for it too) that a lot of what came from us, was a result of his comments and the multiple posts he had made, and he continued to make, so we threw some of it back in his face finally, actually as that was all happening i was documenting it and sent an email about him to stardock, and here is all the posts he made....

i sent that, and said while the members involved in that post were probably also guilty of some of the things i mentioned as well, they were mostly frustrated outbursts by that point. i know that A, his answer had been answered in one of his previous posts, and B we did try to honestly help, and even after it was answered he wanted it changed, i am glad to see that something has been done about it, personally i tried to make that post last as long as i could even after he left so that it would clearly be ridiculous and perhaps get looked into. thank you for being contientious and thinking of others on this forum. i could deal with the caps and the spamming as being annoying, but when he began calling me gay and slinging insults, i couldnt let that happen, (thats when i started documenting things) and while i can also deal with insults towards me, i know that there are younger people on these forums, and derogatory, sexist comments have no place here. so thank you again marcathonas i know you were as frustrated as the rest of us.

Well Josh, the reason I called for something done was the insults he threw at thegothikfaery (someone I know outside the forums) because, as she said, she wouldn't blow him. It lost all pretense of humor and was him literally insulting us constantly. I think he really put his foot in his mouth by saying "I know no girls that play games, gothikfaery, you are the first to exist?"

I was involved in that thread too. But I think I came away pretty clean. I didn't feel anyone was being insulting toward me, nor was I insulting toward anyone else (at least I don't think so). I think the problem here is that people on both sides get frustrated because either the OP isn't clear on what he/she is trying to say or the commenters are paying attention to what the person is saying. I think both issues often happen at the same time.

I read a post a while back where a poster asked for MOO2 ship designs and the commenters started flaming him/her about the MOO2 AI. Nowhere in the OP was the AI mentioned. If the commenters would have paid ATTENTION to the OP they would have realized it was a request for a mod and not MOO2 nostalgia.

In my own post I have requested an OPTIONAL Cloak/Anti-Cloak tech tree for the upcoming expansion. And I get responses like "No I don't want cloaking" or "it's too much work to put it into 1.2." My question is what part of the word OPTIONAL do they not understand and how do they get 1.2 out of the upcoming or future expansion.

Pay attention to detail. If you don't understand something or know an answer don't comment. It will save everyone alot of frustration and prevent incidents like the one described in this thread.

onikazi, I agree with what you are saying, but at the begining we knew what he was asking and we tried to help, yes we did misunderstand part, but you cleared up what he was asking, and we talked about that then, (off course the insults were already being thrown) but the question did get answered and he was still arguing the issue, and if you saw at the end, the next day he did come back remember and say he still didnt like the answer or something to that affect. so that was part of the problem as well

Yes I understand the point about your thread, but frankly it isn't likely to ever come back, since it's already been and gone. If the Dev's don't like it, and not many people would use it, wouldn't it be better to do something else?

But in this case the question was answered, and psycho started vaguely insulting everyone. We ignored him and continued a conversation on the thread, he started really insulting people. Earlier, he stepped over any lines that may have existed and opened a full scale flame war. Not like the other night, when he switched to rational discussion, he just flamed and if we retaliated he insulted us again and told us to answer his original question.

thegothikfaery, you're right I just got here and I didn't see everything. I'm sorry that you were insulted. In all honesty I don't remember you saying anything to him that would have provoked him. But just about everyone else was keeping it going. If everyone would have stopped before it got out of hand it might not have got this far. Sometimes it's better to bite your tongue and ignore someone than to lash out. And while I like Marcathonas, Josh_88, and El Conquest they did help perpetuate the behavior. They weren't the only ones but I don't remember who all was there.

You are right his original question and the whole point of the topic was finished within the first few pages, and most of that thread was the group of us socializing. I think alot of what Psycho said was out of hand before we all called it a night that first day. I don't know what he did or said today. I'm sure most of it was inappropriate. But I think alot of this could have been prevented if people weren't keeping it going after it started getting out of hand.

At the time no-one was commenting, most of us had left. I wasn't here, nor were the main posters of the thread. Psycho had commented again, someone replied, and it kicked off.
