Object Desktop installation drive letter, other that c:

Hi, ...

Stardock Central Object Desktop installation drive letter, other that c:

I have made a ramdrive z: = "an HardDrive in memory", and uninstall stardock central, on the drive c:, after i have removed the stardock directory in the "c: program file stardock". After i have rebooted. And after i have installed Stardock in the drive z:. After reboot, i have find some file in the drive "c: program file stardock", directory, even if i have not asking it to be there.

For the purpose of try to install in other drive letter than c:, i see that it create some stardock files in the drive c:, even if i choose an other drive letter. ( I can send a text files report ) on some files, that have not been installed to the z: drive.

What files are they?

Please be aware that installing an app like WindowBlinds will always put some files in on your windows drive.

Sounds like he's paranoid about WB breaking his PC so by putting on a RAM drive it will be easy to erase if there's problems. I do hope he realises that the install will be erased when the computer is turned off! That in itself may cause problems on next reboot when Windows finds registry entries that suddenly point to nowhere :-0 !

As Neil said, there's some files that get put into C:\Windows\SystemXX (and elsewhere). Althought I've never liked this scheme in Windows I have no problem trusting Stardock software - it's never done anything to harm my PC even since the OS/2 days

Hi, ...

In respond, ...

I use a verry good ramdrive software = "RamDrive software plus" = from
'SuperSpeed.com'. It restore at each startup of the computer, my z: ramdrive, from a backup file. And save the drive contain on restart or shutdown on my windows xp.

So ( after a restart or shutdown ) = no files from the z: drive, is lost.

At request, i will write in a new message, the remaining file(s), on the 'c: program files stardock, ....' directory.
