A humble request of the skinners

Firstly, I want to say I respect you all greatly. I couldn't do what you do if my life depended on it. I just had a few requests:

1 - Cut back on the vista "everything" About 1/4 of the new logons are vista something
2 - Try other colors, blue is just way to overused.
3 - If possible, when you make a bootskin, make a logon to match, or vice-versa. Matching sets look great.

Keep up the great work, and I hope I didn't offend anybody.

Psikotik, you're a braver man than I am to make such requests but I do agree with you at least on item #1.. I can't say I agree too much on the colors suggestion though as I find the skins with light color schemes are typically the only ones I can use for an extended amount of time. Being colorblind, contrast is really important in a skin and it seems that the darker the skin is, the less contrast there seems to be and therefore the less likely I am to be able to use the skin. I completely agree with #3, and I'd actually add something to that, which is make logons resolution independent. I know it's probably a bigger PITA to do that but there are so many great logons I can't use because I don't use 1280X1024 which seems to be a popular resolution for logons these days..

To all the skinners I'd like to say great job and I'm really looking forward to the great work I'm sure we'll see when the GUI Championships finally get started!!

Gotta love the new super fast servers..

yeah....the 'super fast servers' have been anything but....it has beeen worse rather than better & accessing the site has been terrible to try and view archives by times;the downloading of the pages is almost like dial up & yet I have DSL;I go about 10 pages @ 25 submissions per & have to close the browser & let Windows empty the 'temp' files before proceeding, all the while making sure I benchmark each last progressively viewed archived page;as well I am unable to do a 'feature skin' any longer on my Subscriber personal page if my 'personal page' & gallery will come up at all...lately it has been a lot of 'service unavailable'...definitely glitches that need looking into;in closing let me conclude with agreeing w Psikotik on pts 2.& 3.;the boy is right on the money

I was really turned off by the Vista stuff at first, but some great stuff has emerged. Also, some not so great stuff. It's just a matter of weeding through it, for me.

ahem..

I have to agree on the 'blue' part. Unfortunately, they don't all recolor that well either. I have found myself downloading blue skins lately, but they have been unique visions of the colors application and as skeptical as I was when I downloaded them, they look so much better in use than the previews suggest. I have had to go back and look at others I passed over because I didn't like the color. It's the 'XP/Windows/Microsoft' blue I'm sick of.

Fogger, Galaxy2, and mirageweb are three recnet wb's I have come to really like.

Might wanna rethink of that.

As for the rest i'd agree with no. 1 & 3.

My opinion on the 3 statements:

1. I love the vista stuff. I have "vistafied" my computer. I did the same thing with Win98; made it look like Windows XP (blue). However, I'd gladly sacrifice all the vista stuff if some good quality, skins with new ideas never before seen were created more often.

2. Blue is good if it isn't overused in a skin. Simple (is that the name?) that comes with WB5 is blue, but it looks great.

3. I have found my perfect bootskin. I run 1024x768. So to me it doesn't really matter, but I know you all count too (lol).

Good points you made . (there is really an excess of Vista stuff )

If you think the Vista stuff here is bad, check out DA. They have a Mount Crapmore of Vitsa stuff, plus posts of some of the same stuff you see here.

I wasn't only refering to Wincustomize. Like Po' said, Deviant Art is full of it. Other sites are full of it. Customization packs, icons, images, wallpapers. I don't recall this happening with Windows XP. At least not to this extent. Sites entirly dedicated to Vista have opened up.

Maybe I am just narrow sighted, but I didn't see Macs, or Linux, or XP hype when it was released.

Correct me if I am wrong .
