Question regarding the Game AI

I was just curious - does anyone know how the AI handles negotiations with each other? For example, is there just some fixed amount that you can sell each tech for or, is that amount context dependant?

For example if I am selling say Massive Scale building, will the AI always pay X bc's, or will an AI that has a massive advantage over expect to pay less using an arbitration scheme of some sort?

If it's just fixed, I think it /might/ be interesting to include an arbitration type scheme for selling techs and/or other goods.

Thanks for any responses I get.

I think the amount is "kind of" fixed, but I think it's not like 200bc for Laser II or 325bc for Research Academies etc. It seems like it is fixed to a certain percentage of their total money. Because when I want to trade some wretched AI faction some of my far superior techs they are only willing to pay like 100bc and the total amount they posses is around 300 or so. At the same time an other AI is willing to pay me 400-600bc - and I think it's because they are capable to pay its worth (to me) ... having a bigger treasury around 4000bc.

The amount the AI is willing to pay is probably influenced by your diplomatic ability as well, but so far it never payed so much for a tech that its treasury would reach or go below 0.

Definitely depends on the value of the tech, how much money they have and your diplomatic ability. I guess how friendly you are to them might make a difference as well, but I'm not sure.

Hi!

From my experience it makes a diference when buying weapons tech. If you're on friendly terms with them (and not a superpower), they'll sell you that tech.
