Torian influence base threatened by transports

I was playing terrans, and had been assembling transports to attack the yor. This happened to be near a torian influence base deep in my territory. The torians took this as a threat to themselves, and declared war on me. Seems like a bug in the AI? The torians, btw, are at the other end of the map from me with the altarians in between us. So the declaration of war can't make sense any other way.

The AI doesn't seen to 'see' influence spheres.

Skyjack, it isn't about seeing influence spheres. It is that my transports are in space that is at the other end of the map from the torians, and the only explanation for their declaring war seems to be that the transports were gathering near an influence base of theirs that was in the middle of my planets.

well, if you have a saved game before they declared war, you could buy the base from them..

just my 2 cents

Osiris, the war declaration explicitly mentioned massing transports on their borders.

The same thing happened to me, only it was the Drath. We were best buddies, had lots of trade flowing, on opposite sides of the galaxy separated by 2 other civs, and they had just given me ships to help my war effort against the strongest civ. Then I get the "this isn't a video game, I can see what you're doing with those transports" speech, and they declare war. I only had 1 transport, right next to my home planet, which also happened to be right next a Drath influence base. I was trying to be cool with them about building an influence base next to my capital too - shows how much they appreciated my understanding.
