Headers and buttons' fonts are gibberish for ver 1.1

I've downloaded and installed Galciv2. I'm using a Dell Dimension 8300 with 1.5GB of Ram and an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro video card with the latest drivers. Everything installs fine. It starts fine. When I get into the game. All the gray/silver buttons to start a new game etc are gibberish. Looks like random ascii characters or something. This is true with all the header type text in the game. It makes the game obviously unplayable. I submitted a problem ticket and subsequently reinstalled fonts and tried removing anti-aliasing etc. Nothing seems to help. Can anyone help me on this?

Try rebooting. IIRC, there was an issue with a font that get's re-downloaded iwth this build, and some cards get pissy and...we...do as you posted above.

If the reboot doesnt help, please post your debug.err here so we can furthre help...the game is definatly less playable when you cant read the text
