2 diff things

ok i have 2 diff bugs first one is whenever i open the game my mcafee says that its a suspisious script . Second when i try and alt tab out or when a im comes through i get to the desktop but cant get back into game ? if anyone has any advice i would appreacate it thanx:)

It can take a few minutes to get back into the game, especially if you play it full screen, even on a fast computer.

Stop opening it through stardock. Mcafee doesn't like that little splash screen. Go to your galciv2 directory and run the exe .

Mcaffee says all scripts that gc2 tries to run are malicious, because it doesn't scan properly and is useless. Use zonealarm, it's safer and works better.

And play in windowed mode if you alt+tab a lot

McAfee is garbage.

Change your shortcut for GC2 to point to GalCiv2.exe instead of GC2Launch.exe (or GCLaunch.exe, whatever it was).

I concur. Mcafee is the devil. Get Norton if you want paid AV, or go with one of the suggestions here.

When you run it in windowed mode at the same res as your desktop it looks like it is full screen, but you can stil alt-tab. You can do this by adding a space and a 'w' (without quotes) to the end of the path (outside of any quotes that might be there).

If you create a shortcut to the galciv2 executable and add a w to the command line, this will run the game in window mode. At least on my display settings, this isn't too far off from full screen, and more importantly, it is optimized to handle alt+tab'ing around much better.

You should see better performance when tabbing around in windows from doing that.
