Doom Ray icon is blank in ship building screen

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this is a glitch with the 1.1. patch or if it always been there, but in my current game (galatic map, 9 opponents, normal (random) difficulty) I finally was able to research all the way up to Doom Ray in beam weapon research, but when I went to the ship building screen to outfit a new ship with it, I notice that the weapon icon is blank (black) even though when I select it, I can see the weapon being installed. I also notice some blank (black) component icons in the core ships when I go to upgrade them with the option to keep all components on. I can select the blank component box and remove it from the ship. Anyone else had this glitch?

Its not a glitch or a bug with the doom ray. They simply havent had time to implement art for it yet. Run a search for doom ray and you will find several topics that have discussed this already.

As for thye black boxes on the core ships - it might be the non functional weapon shield and other jewelry that is on the core designs. For instance 2 phasor banks on core defender - it clearly doesnt have phasors but it does have the jewelry for them.

Blade, thanks for the headsup and the search suggestion, I'm new to the GalCiv2 game and to me it's all new..

I did read the previous posts about this "non-glitch" and is it just me, but something about this don't seem right...I mean Stardock spend all the time to work on enhancements and fixes in 1.1 and they couldn't fix this one little bug?? I'm not trying to put down Stardock, I think the game is great and the team has done a great job, but that's why it's seem strange they wouldn't fix something this minor. I realize this non-glitch is not a show stopper, but still It's the small details that makes something stands out. I can't but be alittle disappointed that Stardock has not address this minor bug.

The thing that gets me is, all the time spent talking about it and complaining sooooo much about it.
What is the big deal about a missing picture?

It is the only one that is a blank black picture thumbnail. It is easy to find because it is blank.

You are right, Moosetek, it's not a big deal. But try to imagine what a disappointment it is to spend all that time researching all the way up the beam weapon tree and finally after so many turns of research you have reach the pinnacle of beam weapon techology to get...a black box...no new weapon picture. Just doesn't make sense to me.
