AI-Controlled Created Races

Will it ever happen?

I know that this most likely has been posted about a million times before, but I wonder how likely it will be for the ability to play against self-made races to be ever implemented. It wouldn't have to be too fancy, meaning a static leader pic could replace the diplo animations and all selfmade races could use just one neutral AI-set. This would certainly make for much more variance in the game as one does not have the classical roles of the traditional opponents.
Is there any possibility that this might be implemented eventually?

I thought I saw something about this making it into 1.2, but don't quote me. I know it's something that's been mentioned.

I believe that this can be done by modding some files somewhere. For help on that, you should probably try the mods forum. (Don't ask me though!)

For us mere mortals, it has been suggested by the devs that this is one thing that may be implemented in 1.2...

I'm hoping for this aswell. I'd like to know how the Computer implements The Endoran Coalition (my custom race).

Hmm I don't really care about pics and all that, but if you alter say Dregin in a game when playing it to a 'economy race', it seems that the abilities will not be reset in the next game.

So if the Dregin becomes your opponent in the next game, does that mean they will use the altered stats?

No, all AI:s always use their default stats.
I have read that we will be able to play against custom races in the expansion.

No, they reset to default, then edit their own stats, and use up the points remaining from the default. Not the same thing.
