Help! My MSN has no sound!

So MSN was working fine and everything. I was on mess.be and saw that the new MSN Beta was downloadable . So I wanted to try it out. I changed my MSN 7.5 directory to a new name so I could have both MSN 7.5 and the MSN 8.0 on my computer. It worked fine, and was awesome. I still perfer 7.5 however, so I changed the MSN 8.0 directory to a new name, and the 7.5 directory back to the original name. Only to discover I had no sound for MSN toasts, new convos, sign in sounds, etc. I figured it was the MSN 8.0 installation. I uninstalled it only to discover still no sound.

By this time, I was confussed. I search thru MSN 7.5's options, Plus!'s options, and still wasn't able to get my sound back.

I uninstalled everything MSN related, downloaded a brand new .exe and installed it. Still no sound. I continued with the installation of Plus! and mess patch hoping some option in those would trigger sound coming back... but nothing.

So I come to you guys. How can I get sound back into my msn :S ?? Normally I am running full screen games, or videos, and the only way I know people are talking to me is via those sounds. I need them lol. Any help would be great !

Have you checked your sound file settings to make sure they weren't changed somehow? Control Panel-> Sounds & Audio Devices

Keikonium, I did the same exact thing...and I have the same exact problem. I have been looking everywhere, but I couldn't find any solution on this one! So yeah, any guys knows how to solve this problem?

I have a file which i found on another forum that i opened and it automatically fixed my sound

Guess I shoulda posted that I figured out what the problem was :S.

Well, first I got the sound files off my moms computer. Loaded them into the registry, and my sound worked. Until I used stuffplug again. I didn't notice this was the cause at the time.

Anyways, I thought maybe a fresh install of MSN would work. So I reinstalled MSN, still no sound. Again, I had installed mess patch, msn plus, and stuffplug along with it. Not thinking to test MSN alone.

So I thought, maybe its msn plus thats doing this. It has alot of options, perhaps I checked off one. Nope. So I proceeded to the plugins. Stuffplug was the culprit. I use MSN 7.5, and I had custom tabs. I disabled those, and all my sounds came back... and stayed.

No problems since then (well, I manually disabled the notifications, and upon reenabling them , no sound or notifications appeared). So if you use MSN Plus and stuffplug, then check out your stuffplug settings. Worked for me ^_^.

Hope you guys figure out the problem :S.

I unmuted my speakers and it fixed the problem.
