Image Preview On The Desktop?

In windows XP Home... screen included

What I am looking for is a program (or mod I suppose) that will enable ALL image types to have a preview. Look at this image for instance:

The .psd has a preview image cause its some photoshop thing I guess. And the .png image just displays that horrible run over cat >_o. Is there anyway to enable all image types (or .png and .jpg specifically) to have a preview image for the desktop?

Thanks ^___^

IconX does that job very well, and you can even set the icon-/preview-size up to 128 px.

I have a problem with IconX. It's an awesome program, but when renaming files I either have to go really slow cause the program will crash, or it just plain out wont rename the files .

But thanks for the suggestion .

Don't make Irfanview (or any other viewer) the default.

Your other option is select "Thumbnails" under "View" in Windows Explorer.

Don't let Aimzzz see that run over cat.

And please give me the link so I can get one.

That's one of Irfanview's default icons.

Before I had Irfanview, the icons were either the default icons, or whatever came with my IP package . And I can't do thumbnails on the desktop... unless I am completely over looking an option here >_>.

@ thomassen: Mainly all I need it for are .jpg, and .png icons. .gif and .bmp would be nice also, but not necessary. I just said "all" because I figured if someone knew a program that could do this, it would handle more than just the 4 I said above.

Here is the icon Po':

Actually, nothing I know of gives you a thumbnail on the desktop, only in explorer windows. All the types you mention have full thumbnails in explorer views (if thumbnails is turned on) but not on the desktop. Interesting. You can create artificial ones by using Desktop X to build shortcuts with thumbnail-like images.

Now that you mention it, isn't it strange that you can't change the desktop view to any of the settings in explorer?

Yes, it kinda sucks that you can't have universal views on every part of the computer . I think I'll just have to use the method I have been using for a few years...

Creating a new empty folder, dragging all my crap into there, and thumbnail viewing it. Thank god for XP... this was hell on 98 having to hold my mouse over each file waiting for that preview to load .

Perhaps Stardock would create a program to add a whole bunch of little tweaks to the windows system... .
