Five planets for every star really getting on my nerves

Ever since I bought this game, every single game I play invariably puts exactly five planets around every last star. It doesn't matter if the "number of planets" box is set to Rare or Abundant, it is -ALWAYS- five planets on every star. This annoys me to no end. Is there a way this can be fixed, or is there a possibility it will be patched in the future? I mean, heck, if it's just a math error, I might try to fix it myself.

Um, in my latest games, I had 2, 3, 4, and 5...mostly 5, but not exclusively.

I had a problem like that when I first got my hands into the game.
After 96 uninterrupted hours playing I started to see weird things like naked aliens and stars with a dozen planets, but that was solved after I got some sleep.

I see a lot of stars with only 4 and some with 3, but mostly 4 or 5. In "Common" I get only 1 or two planets per star system, usually only 1 and within a cluster at least 2 star systems with no habitable planets.

Sounds like you've got a glitch on your install? Are you running the beta, or the initial release?

I'm running the latest beta, and I consistently get 1-5 (very random) planets per star (and some planets orbiting a dead star).

I use abundant habitables, rare planets, uncommon stars.

I just finished a gigantic map game (1.1 beta 4b) set with common everything. Planet numbers varied from 0-5 and each system w/planets varied from 0-3 habitable planets.

No mate I have brought this up as well in 2 threads.

I ever reinstalled 2 times to get rid of it but it keeps coming back, NO matter what settings for galactic setup I use I get on AVERAGE 80-90% stars with 5 planets.......

Now thats odd! Especially when everything is on ultra rare.

The only conclusion I've got is that the creation process on extra galaxy needs a minimal number of planets to appear in game to justify the % of inhabitable ones and so generates a few systems with 5 planets on them with usually one or two stars of 5 planets having 1 earth like planet.

But this is DEFINITELY something that needs addressing.

hmm ineresting but i have never seen this from all my games player infact i find that 5 planet systems are a rareit i have very few of them i think in a large galaxy 9 were 5 planets. rest were 4 and under.

There is no need for this thread, playing with less than abundant settings on planets (not habitability) results in variation youll see none (0), thru 5 per star.

I have noted exactly the same problem as Kez, always exactly 5 planets per star no matter what the setting.

I too have noticed an over abundence of 5 planet systems.

Edit: Note that there are about 50 things I would prefer devs spend time on before this I'm just saying.

I started a thread about this last week. I wanted common stars, with uncommon planets and many habitable. I expected this to produce a large starfield, most stars having 0-2 planets, most of which would be habitable. Instead, I got average number of stars, half of which have zero planets, the other half having 5. Bah I say, bah.

if you have payed more than a few games you need to start deleting some files.

You could start with the my documents/my games/gal civ2 folder. you can move any ship files beforehand then move them back later.

That should cure your 5 planet abundance.
