possible 2 stop ai-surrenders ?

Hi all
As said in the topic my question simply is: is there any possibility in the game settings or by editing some code to keep the ai from surrendering ?
It really drives me crazy to fight a 3 year long war i didn't start just for NOTHING !! Actually I didn't even take a single planet of my enemy because I COULD NOT INVADE (not developed) .. so what's the point surrendering to someone else ??

Every time stupid AI-race XXX realizes that it'll probably lose, it surrenders all it's colonies to a random race. In all these wars i fought so far (~30 in different games) only 1 race surrendered it's colonies to me. Can plz someone give me an historical example where country A was at war with country B and suddenly decided to give all it's remaining land to country C and disband his army ??

Call me a warmonger ... it's the way I play and these stupid surrenders take the whole fun out of the game

... hoping for answers on my question

I thought there was an option to turn off surrenders?

It's lovely and realistic. Just like a human player would.

It may not be the most historically realistic thing, but you gotta admit it is acting like a real player.

wellll....

if you think about it logically, they want their citizens to be "free"

and of course, as always in war, propganda about the "barbaric, child eating, women raping, men slaughtering aliens" (aka you) is bound to happen.

they hate you. no reason to give planets to you. Give planets to someone else and hope they survive.

although yeah, i still cant think historically... maybe because if they surrender they're already dead?

this is why i make sure to invade their highest quality planets first.

don't start at the fringes, and get a bunch of 7s and 8s! go for the throat, get their class 15+ worlds, and let them give the filler away to somebody else... with any luck, you can out-influence them with the high-population worlds you took, and get the filler anyway, in time.

I think Rome gained some colonies that way.

No, you're right, I can't think of a single historical example where somebody surrendered an entire planet to another alien race, in order to prevent the complete genocidal destruction of their own race!

It's a feature of the game, and actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Races will generally surrender to others of similar alignment, or those that they are friendly with - basic survival instinct, why surrender your entire population to someone that has already wiped out half of it without mercy.

I actually hate it when they surrender to me, because I've then got to find all their planets and set up their production queues.

The British offered to merge France/Great Britain into one empire just before France surrendered to Germany, to keep them in the fight. Not *exactly* what you meant, but it's the closest thing I can think of.
