Planetary Production Sliders

Instead of having an Empire-wide set of sliders for Research, Social, and Military spending, is there any way we could get a set of sliders for each planet?

Right now, that's about the biggest gripe that I have, in that I do not get full value from the buildings that I construct. Also, if one or two planets need to build something, I might have to adjust the ratios for my entire empire. That just doesn't seem terribly rational.

I agree, those are a needed addition to the game. It would make the economy so much more versatile than ut us now.

yeah the focus option isnt enough when you got 100% research, and you cant trully specialize planets without separate planet sliders

You can set each planet individualy from the planet screen.

it would be nice to, say, tell a planet to focus on both Social and Research at the same time.

the sliders wouldn't even have to be fine grained... they could have a couple of preset tabs on them, and of course they would all have to add up to 100%.

the way it is now, it's like there are only three tabs on each slider:

one at 66%, when that part of the economy has focus.
one at 33%, the default setting.
one at 16%, when another part of the economy has focus.

so when you have no focus, all have 33%, the middle tab.

and when you give one area focus, it get 66% and the other two drop to the 16% tab.

so maybe there could be 5 tab-stops on each slider? giving "focus" and "extreme focus", and matching reductions.

then if you wanted to, you could focus in two areas at once, in return for extreme reduction in the other area. or you could set one area to have extreme focus, in return for reductions in both other areas, or just extreme reduction in one of them, while the third stays at the default settings.

it would require more work from the AI of course, to use the feature well... but at least the number of possible states isn't too much larger than the current one.

speaking of which, i wonder if the AI players use focus as it currently works? or do they just run at the default all the time?

?

Of course you get full value. The value is the capacity, which is a different concept from other games perhaps, but it works just fine here.

Planetary sliders would just be mindlessly annoying micro anyway.
