I have bought the geramn retail version, now i want to doenload the 1.1 version, but i dont see where, and on stardock also there are no updates. So could someone, maybe in german, explain how to download an update for GalCiv2.
And maybe its important i have 2 PCs and the game is installed on the one without internet connection.

Make sure "Show Pre-release Version" on the bottom of the SDC screen is checked. Beta patches only show up if this is selected.

Chunky, he has the german version. Downloading the english beta would break the game.

Oops - sorry, Shakril. I assumed from your second post you had the English version.

Is SDC not smart enough to distinguish the German and English versions when updating?

Ah hell, didn't see that post. If he has the english version, it's fine, as long as he switches regional settings to english. I'll post a link

No, you can update the german release with the english update provided by stardock central.
The only thing you have to know is, that you will not get the "correct" version.
It will show "1.1 4b" but the datafiles are still "1.1 b3" so some balancingsettings aren't done.

The game is playable but not 100% correct, you can update to the "1.1 4b" by using inoffical files, these files are nothing else then the "1.1 b3" with the changes of "1.1 4b". You can receive these files e.g. by contacting me in the chat on irc.stardock.com #galciv (stardoc central has a buildin chatclient).

i have got the german version and recently i just tried it and made the update via the stardock central. everything works fine and it isn't broken. it is still in german and no bugs or anything else. its has also got some new translations and i also had the feeling that they fixed some (but only some) of the translation errors.

but at least i can tell you for sure that everything works perfect here and that there are new translated conversations with the aliens and so on (and ofcourse everything else which they fixed and added in this new patches)

trust me, there are differences between the mixture which is called german 1.1 4b and the original english 1.1 4b. You cannot speak of "perfectly" when several lines of code (all the new things in the diplomatics) are missing and if the datafiles are different and so your structure-costs aren't the same like the english one.

Yes there are some fixes to the translation, I really know of these..... but the files for 1.1 4b include many more. Best example for that there is a failure: did you ever see the manufacturing capital? No? Now guess why not.

Please trust me when I say it's not a translation of the english 1.1 4b it's a mixture between 1.1 b4 english and 1.1 b3 german. I KNOW what I'm talking of.
