Unwanted War through exploring

I have recently experienced a bug were a ship set on auto-explore attempts to attack a neighbor who I am at peace with. I get the "Are you sure?" box, and no matter how many times I click "no", the box keeps popping up. However, it will let me click "yes" and start the war, proceeding normally from there. This has happened in 3 different games so far. Does any1 know how to fix this? I suspect I may just have to stop using autoexplore with armed ships.

Yeah, I just use scouts for autoexplore.

I'd guess the autopilot's trying to pass through the square- which is causing a combat reaction.

So your best bet would be either unclick autoexplore and move around the target, then reclick it, or possibly click 'autoretreat.' I don't know if that'd keep the ship from bumping into people or not- but it seems like that'd make sense.

Your scout has a weapon. When you try an occupy a square with another ship already in it, you are prompted to attack. I get the same thing if I've accidently put a rally point that has a trade route running through it. Every now and again, it will prompt me to attack the freighter if the timing is right.

I think you should not explore with armed ships anyway
as if you stumble near an alien world, the alien might take this for an open declaration of war
(I mean: just going around with an armed ship near his worlds)
