Planet Defection

How to make them Defect?

Hi, this is a very noob question, but how do I make other people's planets defect to me? I see a red sign on top of it indicating that it is ripe for defection, plus I have the Mind Control building, but that planet won't defect. Is there something that I have to do to initiate defection?

Well if they have the red skull and x-bones icon, there's a chance you'll get it. Problem is that could be next turn or 100 turns from now... It's like every turn it rolls the dice and you'll get a popup window telling you if you do get it.

In order to get that sign, the influence on that planet must be 4.00 or greater. To achieve this build some culture improvements and/or influence starbases, whose radius of effect covers the planets you want. Also building up influence resources starbases helps too, increasing your empires influence ability empire wide.
