Email Setup

I use GMAIL and I'm using a premade desktop theme, and When I go to setup my email thingy, I set my account info etc. then I set the pop3 info
pop.gmail.com

And it refuses to work :<

GMail requires an SSL connection to the email server on a particular port (it's documented in your GMail account on their site).

Does the "email thingy" allow you to setup these items? If not, it won't work.
