Removability of The Manufacturing Capital

Is the manufacturing capital's inability to be removed or upgraded intentional?

The reason I ask is: I foolishly placed one on a manufacturing bonus, but since I can't remove or change the manufacturing capital, I can't take advantage of the bonus at all.

Intentional. Tough luck

At least you learned from it. When you get a 700+ manu bonus, you now know what to do

You know its funny you should say that, cause the bonus i'm losing is infact a 700+.

Gotta be honest with you though, seems like a silly thing to do, making them unremovable and all, make it a game setting sure that I could see, but why do it like this?

Because you could THEN late game MOVE it to lets say a class 26 with 3 or for Manu Bonus tiles and then have a Manu Capital there too. I Guess it's either you use it early, and hope it's the right decision or be patient and use it later to maximize potential. I mean it would kind of be like moving Detroit (Automotive Capital) to Florida because the tax breaks are better and so is the weather. Or Washington D.C....

I wish some of the projects could be bulldozed (I really hate the Ai Double Ship Hp things they always build).

But I can kind of see Capitals being stuck where you put them.

Auto save perhaps?

That would make me want to suck a lemon. I have never had a precursor mine bonus and I would hate to lose it like that.

Because it makes you stop and think about where you are putting it. IE to keep you from just dropping it on the first planet you colonise until you find a better one. It is a Capital, the improvemnt represents a massive investment in infastructure and burocracy, thats not really something you can just disolve away.

The problem is when you capture a planet with one on, you then can't build your own. Which is pretty damned annoying as the captured ones are often not well placed!

I bought one by accident once. I had loads of cash and was going from planet to planet buying things and OOPS ......

Thank god for autosave

Instead of complaining about the fact that you can't demolish it, you should be demanding a 700% bonus to the bonus the capital gives you.

IDEA: Give worthless planet away to another race? LOL Then maybe you can build a new one?

I had an interesting case recently. I had a Mfg Capital and then got another planet via invasion or because they left another race and joined mine that also had one. As far as I know, it let me keep both.

You can capture more Capitals, but if you capture one before you build one, you then cannot build your own.

You could have one on every planet I suppose if you built it, then traded the planet away, built another and traded it away and so on. Then take them all back. You'd have to have some cash and a standing military, but would you ever be powerful!

Or use Espionage to find out which one has it and take it and repeat.

I had a similar event in which I was not paying attention and conqured the Torian before I had committed to placing my own man capital and per the poor AI planning wound up having a manifactuing capital on a size 5 planet.... groan. Can you destroy/disband the colony with the capital and then rebuild it elsewhere?

ive it away, it's only a PQ5. You can recapture it later if you have to.

Why didn't I think of that? During my current game I attacked the Terrans really early on (while they still had 0 attack defenders). When I captured Earth (1st planet I attacked) there was a tech and econ captial there and both were on research bonus tiles which I'll never be able to use. The tech capital I was building disappeared and then the Terrans immediately surrendered to the Iconians who attacked me that turn as if it were part of the agreement. On top of which the Arceans had declared war during my attack. Basically my game was very nearly screwed from that... damn humans.
