Creating Null Points (Dummies) and issues with them

Model Disappearing trick

Hey all i'm power ahead with my tiny hull, using excellent advice i had been able to get it into the game so i can see it! Woohoo!!! Now it has a bunch of dummies on it already so i can see the mounting points but when i attach ANYTHING to the mounting points the whole model disappears and whatever i put on it appears in its place. But on the top where it lists what pieces are making up the ship i can still see the hull.

I also had this issue on some mount points when i was creating my test jewerly piece.. Anyone got any insite on to what this is happening and also anyone got any quick tricks in figuring out how to position the damn dummies, i mean short of placing them loading the game checking direction, going back to max adjusting, loading game checking.. etc etc etc etc

ok pounding away at mounting points! if i just place a point in max, checking absolute rotation its 0,0,0. then if i apply 180 to Y, which should flip it upside down, gives an absolute value 0,-180,0 and then move it down to the lower portion of the model. Export, place in game load a game up. Now i can see both mount points and the model.

I can attach things to the top no issues what so ever. Then i goto the bottom mount point i try to attach anything and the whole model disappears the jewerly appears centered but you can attach anything to it. At this point all you can do is select another hull because nothing will work.

Is there a bug in the system? has anyone been able to get mount points that point down?? Also i loaded a max file from the sample ship and all their dummys have a value of 0,180,0 so maybe it was the 180 on mine. So instead of adding a value to Y of 180, i add -180 which gives me the absolute value of 0,180,0. But still the same issue.

Getting real fustrated at this point so i'm going out to dinner! Need some help guys pitch in if you got any ideas...

Upload the .x file somewhere and link it, I'll see if I can tell anything amiss in the file itself.
