I had the Pirates appear in my most recent game. Their ships were impressively powerful. However, my fleets were better, what with the psionic beam weapons.
I was basically dicking around with that game by that point though, I was allied with 2 of the remaining civs, and had close relations with the last one. I did have the fundamentalists show up in that game earlier. But they had only 1 of my planets (playing Arcean as evil), which I retook the turn after they appeared.
What I wonder is how often poeple encounter the internal revolution where a bunch of their own planets break away due to having your morale in the crapper for too long? First time I saw it, I was playing as the Dregin, and they new civ was the "Free Dregin". It happened in one of my very early games before I figured out the importance of morale. Out of boredom, I took my civ, which had 100 percent morale and plenty of income, and deliberately tanked my economy and morale to force it to happen.
After about 30 turns, and demolishing every morale structure and later, nearly every stock exchange, leasing ships, and having the 1% morale reduce my population across 49 or so planets to 16 billion total, it finally happened, and the Free Arcean's showed up.
Given that most people who post here probably manage to mantain high morale in all their games, I wonder how often this event is seen?
