At war with the Dominion of Korx

Whew. It's going to be a long hard push but I believe I will succeed. I'm playing my first metaverse game and the Dominion began by spreading out far and wide very quickly. After a couple of years game time they had became the ultimate power in the galaxy. They started waging war on every other civ, except me for some reason thankfully. Everyone eventually began surrenduring to the Dominion. I managed to form an alliance with the Yor just before they surrendured. Thanks to my alliance they surrendured to me. The only civ that was able to go semi toe-to-toe with the Dominion was the Iconian Refugees, but now they are slowly being wiped out by war and cultural revolts. The game started outwith 7 or 8 civs and now it's down to The Dominion, Myself, and the Iconian Refugees, whom are losing their war. The Dominion controls about 70% of the massive galaxy and is gaining more from the Iconian Refugees. Every habitable planet in the galaxy has been colonized. I started a war with The Dominion to try and keep the Dominion from gaining a cultural victory. Thanks to my superior ships I am driving The Dominion deeper and deeper into their territory as I take their planets that are inside and along my borders. I've taken about 10 or so right now and have several fleets made up of my most powerful ships running around inside Dominion territory destroying starbases and keeping planet defenses down to keep them ripe for my fleets of transport ship. They have tried for peace twice now but I rejected them. It looks good right now but I think that The Dominion is catching up to me in ship technologies. I've been waging war with Huge ships fighting their Medium ships but I think I killed a Dominion Large ship a few turns back. I have tried everything that I can think of to form an alliance with the Iconian Refugees but the option won't appear in negotiations. (Yes I have the tech and they are on friendly terms with me) I think it may because my custom civ is ethically evil. Hopefully though, I can keep up the big push and unseat The Dominion from power. They have a total military score about 2.5 or 3 times that of mine, but my ships are vastly superior and I have won 98% of the many many battles I have fought with The Dominion so I think, unless they come out with huge ships soon, it'll be too late for them.

Since you've been winning a lot of battles, some of your ships should be levelled up pretty substantially. Keep an eye on them, name some of the highest-level ones, and when you start seeing huge ships, whack them with "hero fleets".

yeh, keep an eye on those veteran ships. if the korx havnt won many battle against you and havnt had big ships that long, yours will be much better. good luck mate !!!

I took a bunch more planets from The Dominion tonight and in the process vastly extended the borders of my empire. The Dominion has been building a few big ships, but not many. I still have a firm lead on ship quality, though they still have a decent lead on ship numbers. I continue to design better ships as new technologies become available. I have lowered their military score and raised mine so that overall I have a score of about 3/5 that of The Dominion. That's a big jump from what it was yesterday. Still can't get the Iconian Refugees to become my allies, but that's ok because at this point I don't think that The Dominion can stop me.

Excellent work. If you have screenies and a write-up could you post them?

I think that you need to be 'close' rather than just 'friendly' before you can become allies.

Hmm... I'll try giving them a bunch of my lesser techs and see if that doesn't boost them up to close.

Hey if taking out a vastly superior frace i always start by aiming below the belt! the industry button on the map is your friend! Take out 2 or three of their biggest industry centers and they will be screwed!

Also take out their home world is a real crippling blow! But it sounds like you are having range issues

If i sneak attack i get a mess of troop transports and aim for Homeworld if in range, industry planets (so they cant counter attack) and then culture centers. This strat normally rips up the enemy even if they are better as far as tech. Try it out its funny to watch the uber powers goto backwater rednecks in like 20 turns

Didn't work. I gave them a dozen techs, some good ones too, but their opinion didn't budge. I took another 10 planets or so from The Dominion. It's becoming increasingly difficult to fill up my transport ships. They only hold 5000 each, but I've nearly expended all of my population centers. I think my war effort is going to grind to a crawl as I keep kicking the crap out of their ships, but have no armies to conquer the planets with. I've closed the gap on military score so that I am nipping The Dominion's heals. I'm litteraly right under them on the graph.

I don't know how to take screen shots in game, nor do I know what a write-up is. Tell me and I'll be more than happy to post them.

Too bad you cant just whipe out their planets with orbital bombardment. You cant do that in this game, right?

Just spend a couple of turns recouping, destroying their ships and transports while waiting for your pop to recover--otherwise you'll also see your tax revenue start to drop and then you really will have a difficult time. And If you haven't already done so research all the influence techs... the Korx are not all that loyal to their own kind his border planets may start to turn all by themselves if you can get your influence high enough.

I say this respectfully,

Then don't expect a lot of us to bother reading it. I just click back when I see a post like that. It hurts my head and is really hard to comprehend. Not worth the time.

Minor note here on the Iconians- have you made sure that they have alliance tech too? Even if you have it, you have to give it to the other person to get the option. Probably a stupid question, but I figure it can't hurt. I make sure that's one of my first gifts to new races.

I don't generally do that. Really, I'm not sure why I did that post like that. Too late to fix it though. Any time I try and edit my posts here the post either gets all crewed up, or it doesn't change.

Now that I think of it, I'm not sure. I think they have it, but I'm not sure. I'll check it when I start playing again.
