Ask for War

I have the following situation :

Altarian Republic is Warm towards Drengin and Torian and me (Humans), and Friendly towards the Arcean.

I want them to attack to Torian but they do not show up in the list, Drengin and Arcean are available

Could it be that the Torians are just way too powerfull so the Altarian are not even considering the option to attack them?

Nope, it's either an alliance, they're already at war, or they're too far away

They are not a war, neigbours and no Aliance between them so what else could it be?

I have noticed this too. I think the civ needs to have "cool" relations or worse for the "go to war" option to be available, but I'm not sure...

EDIT: Err... I didn't read the post properly... Maybe they won't go to war with them because they are of the same alignment? If anyone knows how this works, I would greatly appreciate it if they let me know. I have been wondering this for a long time.

Iv notes this to, Tried to get the Yor to attack the humans but it wasn’t there.
P.S I did have alliance whit the human so was that the problem

Yeah, if a civ is too powerful, then others with average or weak militaries won't attack, no matter what I offer.

It would be great if you could use espionage to degrade relations between two civilizations. Maybe something for a far future patch.

Even without an alliance, I think if their relations are good they might not consider an attack. Try getting the Torians to attack the Altarians. Sometimes it will work the other way around.

yea it has to do with how there relationship with each other are.
if two people are friendly with each other they wont attack, and it wont even show up.

Just to be clear, there is a difference between offering everything you have to buy another civ into starting a war (and they refuse), versus wanting to buy another civ into starting a war, but the enemy you want them to pick on does not appear in the drop-down list for whatever reason.

Why can you not threaten the other players like they can you...... I want to be albe to tell them that thier influence starbase is pissing me off and i am willing to trade something for it. As it is now i have no choice but to just go towar with them.....

That's a good point. I've been wondering about this too.

i second that
the AI is building influence starbases in my territory and i cant tell them to piss off ...

to the topic:
major trade partners also dont show up in the drop down list, i always thought of "we dont offer to attack them, we need their trading income"
but trading improves relationship a lot, so probably they got friendly through trade and thats why they wont attack

by the way, i have never ever seen two AIs to form an alliance
please increase probability of that

An AI alliance isnt uncommon in my games a couples times ive alomst lost due to the AIs almost getting diplomacy victories usually its the iconian and torians in my games. theyll be allied with everyone but me. I play on challenging or tough usually. Also... I know this is a little off topic but why dont my metaverse symbols show when I post, at the bottom like everyone else?

Can't be right as they are also warm towards the drengin and they are in the list.

If its because the Torian are too powerfull the option should be there but it should never get accepted....
It should still be in the list as an option though

Maybe someone from Stardock can explain
