Not sure if these are bugs...

Hi!

First I want to thank Stardock for a great game (that took a lot of my time so far - seems like a problem everyone has ). And I really appreciate the support so far!
I have come across a few issues and I am not sure if they are "bugs" or if I just don't get something right. So any help on the subject would be appreciated:

1. Starbase Upgrades
When clicking on my starbases - for example a mining starbase in my current game - it says 3/4 modules installed. But when i send a constructor it says this starbase can not be upgraded. Had these with other starbases in differnent development stages.
By the way: Could it be possible to click on a not fully upgraded starbase and see wich upgrades are actually missing/possible?

2. Starbase defense Assist
This is probably not a bug and I just don't get something right. When upgrading a military starbase with defense assist all ships in its influence sphere get the defense upgrade. Ok, I know thats what it says. But I thought they must have at least a base value of one themselves, because also ships with 0 defense get the bonus? Or is it just necessary to research the according defense ability (for example missiel/chaff) in general?

3. Civ. Manager: Timeline Diplomacy
There are no graphs in the diplomacy timeline. Only for the first week and for 4 Civs (maybe overlaying the others), but geting to week 2 or later - nothing.

4. Ship Speed
Sometimes in a game my ships suddenly get a speed boost +1. In the shipyard they are displayed with the correct amount of speed in the ship information, but on the galaxy map they are all faster (+1). This happens early in the game after a few turns. So I have no gravity accelerators or something like that , I didn't chose speed as an ability and I didn't upgade an old design with new engines. Or is there anything else that gives a speed bonus I am not aware of?

So, luckily nothing of this has a crippling effect on gameplay (the speed bonus being more an undeserved advantage), but any insights would be welcome.

Have fun playing everyone!

2. You need at least 1 type of defense on the ship for defense assists to work. Likewise, you need 1 type of attack on a ship for attack assist to work. If your ship has 0 defense, defense assist will do nothing for it. Same for attack assists. If you hold the mouse over the ship's stats on the main galaxy screen you can get a popup that shows what bonuses your ships are getting from nearby starbases.

4. Some techs, like Impulse Drive, increase your speed ability, which may be why you see this extra boost in speed. Since you said it was early in the game, that would be my best guess since, depending on your starting techs, it doesn't take too long to get to Impulse Drive.

3. The time line only shows data for civs you have met. That is probaly why you only saw 4 civs at that time.

3. No, this is a bug, and it has been there for every version I have seen yet. At ANY time in a game, every other option you click on the timeline shows lines for each civilization. If you click on Diplomacy, it is blank.

I have seen this too.

Ah, now i see. Impulse drive gives +10 Speed - wich probably translates to +1 Speed / +1 Parsec.

And I probably phrased the defense assist issue wrong. My ships DO get the defense assist against missiles even though they have no chaff/ecm etc. themselves, but I have researched chaff etc. - just didn't equip the fighters. But I will have a closer look since I overlooked the speed thing.

So far thanks for the replies!

Ok defense assist only requires you to have some defense in any catagory to work. If you lack all three catagories you will get nothing, if you have 1 in any catagory you will get all assists. Understand now?

3. Yes, the diplomacy timeline does not show anything. I'm looking into this.

Thanks WTF_Chuck
My fighters had titanium armor so that explains that. I think they should only get an assist in their equiped defenses, but thats a gameplay issue and not a bug.
