Cutscenes skip and freeze, sound keeps going

Exactly as the headline says, all the cutscenes(ingame, intro, ext.) skip and sometimes freezeup completely, but the sound will keep on playing. The game itself is kinda glitchy as well, especially the menus, which are kinda unresponsive at times. The research tech tree thingy is real slow, as well. Also, when I try to play the tutorials, the sound skips after every couple of words. This PC runs other games just fine, such as Battle for Middle Earth 2 and World of Warcraft. I have the latest drivers for my video card. I have directX 9c. I tried to download the patch for the game, but it keeps telling me that i haven't registered my CDkey, and to save my life i cannot find where to do that. PC specs:

P4 1.6 ghz
768 MB or ram
GeForce FX 5200 256 mb video card

Please help me find out what the problem is, as I really want to play this game.

I downloaded the patch for the game, and the problem still exsists.

1. Soundcard drivers are antiquated - you can't expect DirectX 9 based code to work well with drivers released years before DirectX 9.

2. Page file is far too big for amount of physical ram (1.5 or 2 times physical RAM would be better). Unlikely to be the cause of your problem though.

3. Try disabling hardware acceleration for the soundcard through dxdiag - I've seen similar problems before with AC97 cards.

4. 1.1beta1 did have a number of stability issues (that's why it's a beta). Try running the stable v1.0x instead, or go to beta 2 or 3 which are much better.

5. Give the forum time to catch up - this is a very busy site and you've managed to post the same thing 4 times!

Also, try running in windowed mode to see if this behavior continues.

Turn off anti-aliasing.

I turned off anti-aliasing and it works wonderfully now, thanks!!!!

Ah, search is wonderful. My problem is solved too. Turning it all the way off seems a bit overkill though. I have the exact same video card, and found that I didn't have to turn the anti-aliasing all the way off to get the cut scenes to work. I had it set at 4, now it's at 2. Everything works lovely now.

Love that it's not an all or nothing thing. Great game, and great help here.
