Stupidest resolution

Just started a new game and the VERY FIRST UP resolution was to limit the starbase modules and everyone but me voted on two.  Not sure about you but this is going to seriously gimp my game so my only option is to withdrawal from the up since this is a PERMANENT resolution.  Any other advice?

There's a button somewhere in the relations screen that allows one to leave the UP. Be warned that you lose the ability use trade routes when you do this. . . I think there's some other disadvantages, but I can't remember them right now.

Yeah, you can't trade, but gimping starbases to two modules totally ruins my gaming style so I really don't have much choice but to tell them peace mongerer's to bugger off.

It's black text on white background on my end.

(one highlighting of the text I wanted to quote, pressing of the quote button, and then still having to ctrl-v between the [ quote][/ quote] boxes later)

FYI: Default forum background is black. Changing your text to black = black on black for everyone with a default config. I had to highlight the text in your post to read it.

Sounds like a challenge to me!

Are you posting on the forums on the StarDock site or the GalCiv2 site - if you post on the StarDock site forums then sometimes the formatting on the GalCiv2 forums are messed up. (The two are linked, theoretically what you post at one goes to the other, but it doesn't always work well.) I find it best to post directly to the Galciv2 forums.

The UP resolutions are designed to give a check to evil races - and to warmongering. Otherwise the game would simply be too overpowering for those types. If you want to play as a warmonger, the UP is a hinderance anyway - and trade is not effective since you are always breaking routes by going to war, so the best thing may be to leave it.

In response to your initial issue, there seem to be two approaches to UP resolutions (and events) like this:

1) Take the resolution as another challenge to overcome - change your gaming style to try to win in a fashion different from your usual method.

2) Hit CTRL-N. It was an early resolution anyway, so you hadn't spent much time on that game.

Screw them. Become evil for the tariff bonuses, and leave the UP. Then use your decent weapons to wipe everyone out.
