Hello, I just picked up this game last week, so far I’ve enjoyed it very much and burned way too many hours.

But now I’ve got a specific question.

I had a cut scene or somesuch saying some Minor race, the alkians or aldians or whatnot, stole a crapload of information about the (yor) and wanted to trade it to me.
.... Something about how they were interested in obtaining another planet. So.. I conquered an enemy planet and gave it to them.
But I never heard anything about this again. no. "Here is that stolen technology" or what not.
I looked through the manual, but the stuff about minor races is sparse.
If they offer this to you do you have to jump on it immediately? did I loose it because I didn’t act that turn?

Also, is it possible to increase espionage on minor races?

I think the cut scene just meant that the minor race now had that technology for sale - kinda like an advertisement. You would have to go into the Diplomacy screen with them and negotiate for it just like usual - though they would probably sell it much cheaper than the Yor would.

Overall, minor races work just like the majors - except they cannot colonize planets, and their influence is not scored - but I think they can use influence starbases to flip planets. They can invade and conquer planets if they are allowed to survive long enough though. But that is rare unless you actively help them survive through an allaince or by giving them ships and cash, or bribing the other races to make peace when they are attacked.

Have not yet played Beta 1.1 v3 yet, but so far there is no way to perform espionage on a minor race. If you really want to see them, you can start the game in cheat mode and play as them- somewhere on the Forums is a post with the cheat codes - probably in the modding section.
