(1.1 Beta 2) Starbase crash

When you build more than four starbases in a sector

Hi,

When I try to build more than four starbases in a sector, the game crashes to the desktop.

This is reproducable by building more than four starbases in a sector.

Yeah happens to me too! Limit of starbases is now 4 but seems like it creates an error if you build more than 4 per sector. I do not know if it is a confirmed bug that while be patched in the next patch so I hope a stardock employee notices this thread. I have send a savegame, and log files etc. to stardock so I hope they can trace the bug and can fix it!

Mine just tells me I can't build more then 4 starbases per sector. There has to be another element. Maybe it depends on the race?

The fact is, the code means you can only build four per sector, and that's it (same as the AI has to do).

So, by building more than four, you're causing the code to corrupt. Think of it trying to show the starbase, it's image, it's stats, etc, all the while the game is saying "No, no, no, no, shouldn't be there, killing starbase..", while the code confirms it's there.

Think of yourself, believing you can walk through a wall. Your brain is saying "Yeah, sure, I'm walking through the wall" (With certain "illicit substances", that may be a viable option), while there are various laws of physics saying "Ummm, no, I don't think you're doing that".
Result: a broken nose.

Probably wrong but easier to understand. Whatever's happening, you're making the code argue with itself, which is a wonderfully spectacular way of making a computer CTD (from the coding point of view)

Acutally, you can only have 4 of YOUR OWN in a sector. If the AI has 3 you can also have 4 of your own. Etc...

Kind of wacked but it works. So I guess technically you could have 4 per each in the game in the same sector

I agree. If they can get to Ai to Handle it again, they should change it back to "SBs must be 3 parsecs apart.
