Infulence!!!!

Sooooo, I'm playing on the largest galaxy, normal difficulty, and there are 7 other races. I figure I'm in for a long drawn out game with days of action ahead of me. Wrong, with in 1hr 37 min, the Yor conquered the entire galaxy without one shot fired. Their influence covered the entire map!!! It washed right over my influence star bases and all of my planets. Does anyone know how they did this?

A planetary invasion bug. When using information warfare the winning side ends up with a few trillion extra people. They usually die off in 1 turn since there isn't enough food on the planet.

Not so sure, I have simular effect (also with Yor btw) playing 1.1 BETA 2 and this was supposed to be fixed there.

I saw something similar happen in one of my games, though it was the Arconeans. Link I was going for cultural victory, so they did not quite defeat me. Their borders expanded like crazy in one turn. Found it was a captured influence resource. Perhaps the AI traded some?

it happnned in my second last game with the Alterian Republic on touch level. They and me had about 1/4 of the map influence (someone different from the Torian for a chance). But then suddenly they just out run me and push my influence border way back inland, pass what is supposed to be my Politic Capital and my line of Influence starbase.

That was the reason I had to start an emergency war against them, to my suprise they don't even have Culture Exchane center on most of the planet and most of the planet hold no more then 5Mil people. So I guess it's the invasion bug again.

Don't you still have the 10 or 12 month window to try and take them out? I.E. they must amintain 75% continuosly for that period?

Yes it definately happens during invasion, I had it happen to me. I had approx. 15 planets on the largest map when I invaded another and the next turn I had influence over the whole map save a very small portion. Stats showed I have something like 23748 B. people which died out fast but the influence didn't scale back down, another effect was my money from taxes went f'n crazy. The game fizzled out after that as it was way to easy from there.
