WB quit working (painting)

I have been a happy ODN user for 3-4 years. WindowBlinds has worked like a champ for me until yesterday. I did a SDCentral update...It updated IconPackager, and SkinStudio, and something else. I just bought Apogee so I loaded up IP & applied an Apogee theme.
As usual for me some of the icons were corrupt so I rebuilt the cache & repaired icons & rebooted my machine.

Well after the reboot no Skin...my beautiful "Arrow" was no where to be found. Tried to reapply it..no luck.

Uninstalled WB 5, Rebooted, Reinstalled WB5, Rebooted
no change
Uninstalled WB 5, Rebooted, Reinstalled WB5, Rebooted

I also fully deleted WB Directory, Removed all Registry references to WindowBlinds

Rebooted, Reinstalled, Rebooted
no change

I am stumped & very frustrated. The theme colors are applied, but there is no painting of the skins going on anywhere. That goes for any skin I try!!

Well, I thought I would try one last thing. So I did a System Restore to a few days before I did the updates...funny thing the System Restore Failed...but it fixed my problem. Very Bizzare!!

The same thing has happened to me, i get on today and windowblinds refuses to work. I have done everything in the book short of hacking into the code of windowblinds itself.

I have done all the above and still nothing, waht is odd is that the system restore doesnt fix it. I would really like to know how to get windowblinds working as i have been a user for quite some time and would hate to have to live with using the luna theme or some other style program.

rgrounds: So WB 4.5 also did not work for you?

Usually if WB only applies the colour scheme then something has prevented WB from fully starting up.  Do you get the please wait screen with WB5?

NVM i finally fixed it by getting the WB 4.6 trial installed and working. I dont have the time to screw with this now so 4.6 will have to do till i have time to get things working with the wb 5.

Kinda screwd up if you ask me the damn program worked fine for 20 days and then it just suddenly stops working.

daseto, were you using the WB5 trial. It expires. Good time to buy.
