Game won't INSTALL!
Error occurs when Prior to Install

I haven't found any forum on INSTALL ERRORS so I hope this is fixable.
When I put in the first Gal Civ CD to install game is states
"GC2Launch.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvience."
The error signature states:
AppName: gc2launch.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: dxaxhost.dll
ModVer: 2.0.0.0 Offset: 000209c7
I can't do anything but close the box. PLease tell me what my
problem is and how to go around it. I played the demo which works
perfect and smooth. I've even tried exploring the CD manually and starting dirctly from their but still get the same message. I've also uninstalled the demo in case of config problems
