How to install?

I downloaded a couple of ship packs, logo packs and portrait packs. It then tells me to extract the files to galciv2/ships or galciv2/logos or galciv2/portraits
but I don't have such folders. Do I have to create the folders and put em in there, or is the readme wrong and should I place the files elsewhere?
