Can anyone tell me what kind of star base to build next to a mining starbase to "double" the bonuses? Thanks.

You add modules to your existing mining starbase to increase the bonus. To add a module, create a constructor and send it to the starbase to be upgraded.

I know about adding modules. What about a star base next to an existing mining star base. I see the AI do it. How does that double the bonuses from mining the resource?

It... doesnt. Seriously, if he builds it next to a mining star base it's for another reason. There's no way to double the bonus from a mining resource, because that would be WAY overpowered. They are plenty powerful enough as they are.

Well if its a trading station there could be a trading line though that area so it might be for that

Some of the AI like to throw up influence star bases everywhere, it could just be one of those.
You did really say what kind of starbase it was.
