Thinkdesk and Everquest

My setup is Everquest on my main machine, mouse over to the right for mail/browsing/icq etc etc, right machine is secondary. Running 1.04d[b].002 on both, professional. When I play Everquest, and mouse over I loose control in the game of both mouse and keyboard. Alt-Tab out doesnt not correct this, nor does unloading Multiplicity and restarting it. Only thing that "fixes" the problem is ctrl/alt/del out and force quiting the game and going thru the 5+ min file check and restart of the game.

This has been doing this with 1.02 as well, as I have just updated. This is past irritating.

I will note however that on my second machine, if I run the Multiplicity trouble shooter, I get a fail on
Multiplicity Winlogon DLL is not running
and
Winlogon DLL has failed testing
but Im not sure how this would affect the primary machine?

If you read, it has nothing to do with a flicker, when is this very common problem going to be addressed?

Do you have show status window when connected enabled, or darken the screen when connected?

Does pressing & releasing every button on the primary machine help in anyway?

Just tried it again last night. Status Window or Darken was not on. I could not find a button to push that would help. I did notice that the Windows key does open the start menu, and therefore minimize EQ, but wont unfreeze it. Also, I noticed when the ALT key is pressed on either screen it reacts to both EQ programs (Main and Secondary).

Tried it again this weekend with hot key only switching on. Still locked up. This is very frusterating. I can't afford to have my Cleric randomly lock up. I am sure the rest of you gamers understand. Since Stardock seems not to be very interested in taking a look at this, perhaps someone who is using Muil with EQ without problems could post with what kind of set up they have? I am starting to get frusterated that the only support I get is 'We are not aware of a problem'. There are at least two distinct threads here showing this same problem. Help us out guys.

System 1:

AMD Athlon 2800, 1 GIG mem, Gforce fx5200, MSI MB (Cant remember model ATM), I have used generic PS2 Mouse and KB, Logitec USB Mouse and KB and Logitec Wireless KB and Mouse, Windows XP.

System 2:

Identical to System 1 but with Windows 2000.

Can we PLEASE get this VERY annoying/crippling problem addressed? Or does it take a mass departure of users to get your attention?

I have the same problem with Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion.  I have the same version on both machines as the original poster.  I use the option to only changes screens if the shift key is held down.  That is the only non-standard option I use by the way.  I can hold down the shift key and mouse over from my gaming (primary) machine to my surfing (secondary) machine to look at an Oblivion walkthrough or forum or whatever, but then when I'm done, I cannot get back over to my gaming machine.  My gaming machine must be restarted completely to gain control again.  It is mindbendingly frustrating, having just read about what to do next in a game when you're stuck, to not be able to mouse back over and actually do it!

This was one of the main reasons that I bought the app - the ability to play a game and get game reference info on the fly at the same time, without taking my hands off the mouse and keyboard.  Not only does it not work, but attempting to use it in this way is malicious in effect.

What say you Neil?  Buying Multiplicity also led to my subscription to Object Desktop and various other shiny things purchased, which in total cost much more than a copy of GCII!!

Can we at least get an update on v1.1 progress and the enhancements/fixes being worked on?  GCII honeymoon is OVER!

Per Mike H. with Mult support.

"Multiplicity will not work with Everquest 1."

That's it guys. No 'We are looking at the problem', just a flat sorry, won't work.

I suggest that anyone who is having similar symptoms contact Stardock and demand a full refund.

I believe there may be a miscommunication here.

Tech support asked me if MP worked with Everquest and I replied that I thought that version 2 was fine, but version 1 had a problem.  The problem is you cannot switch to a secondary machine when playing everquest live on the primary full screen.

The reported issue in this thread is different and is being looked into.

Ron Ankeny: I'm sorry, but it appears you left out our other correspondence from your quote. This issue is still being looked into and has not at all been abandoned. Per your request for a refund, I'd be happy to fulfill this if you write in to support at stardock.com with the email address you used to purchase Multiplicity. (I do not see one under the email address you've used in your inquiry)

The fact that this problem is caused by the interaction of Multiplicity with a specific program, that this is not common to any systems unless running this application, and that this application is only available to paying subscribers, it makes this issue more difficult to address.

When we have a solution or at least know more about this issue, I will make the information available here, and to any that write in to support at stardock.com.

Thanks!

I see that this still has not been adressed. I have updated to the latest version, tried all kinds of tricks, and yet, Everquest STILL ceases to respond after a time, if you mouse over or switch over.

Now here is something new I noticed. When Everquest stops responding, it doesn't respond to either keyboard commands or mouse commands, BUT, buttons still "highlight" or "light up" when the mouse passes over it. But the game does not respond. All you can do is alt tab out and force quit via the task manager. I am willing to help with this in anyway I can, but this NEEDS to be fixed.

My renewal $$ await your decision.

So I take it that no one cares about this problem? Maybe it's considered a feature? Guess so....

As was stated before this issue is still being looked into. Multiple tests have been done and this issue has in no way been ignored. We have been able to replicate the issue and are seeking a way to fix it. At the moment it is believed that some of the built in anticheat software in EQ is responsible for the interrupt. Please stand by while a solution that works for both Multiplicity and EQ is reached.

I am having the same problem with EQ (1) loosing the mouse clicks and keyboard. The alt key and mouse hover still seem to work.

I am happy to help resolve this in any way I can...please feel free to contact me.

After 2 months, I see this is still a "non-issue" or, in MS speak, a "feature" (And in the FWIW dept., in a month it will have been a year since my first post on this, so pardon my lack of sense of humor about this)

I am having the same trouble as well folks. Secondary machine with Everquest always runs fine, Primary machine will lock keyboard and mouse input in the game only (you can tab out as others state and kill the game).

I have to admit that I also bought Multiplicity just for this game Please see what you can do Devs ... thanks much.
