Comparing ship designs -is it a feature

Is there a feature ingame to compare your ship designs to other civs?

Sorry to disappoint you, but no. Brad uses them for gameplay examples by zooming in above and taking screenies, and checking a ships info if you have the espionage. You can (once you're used to being zoomed in) tell exactly what a ship can do by looking at it (weapons, especially lasers, stick out. Engines are a diff colour, defences are a bit harder to see)

It would be interesting if you could have a database of known enemy ships and their attack/defense at least... but I suppose you could just write them down yourself...

Interestingly, Space Empires IV allowed you to run simulated battles pitting your ships against each other or against known enemy ships in mock combat. I didn't like that game as much as Galactic Civilizations II, but it was a handy feature... maybe in GalCiv III?
