Bought game from shop - can't update it now

Hi - I purchased the game from a shop (limited edition) instaled on computer and typed in serial number as requested. Joined stardock and proceeded to update the game. Stardock said that 'No registration information was found for GC2'. Well, I have put the serial number in and yet it won't let me get the updates - its asking if I want to buy a registration - but I already bought it from the shop! Frustrating trying to play a new game - really weird way to have to update a game.

Any ideas please?

If it's the European version, the serial number is wrong. Either way, there's the option on SD Central somewhere to directly enter your serial into it. It's on one of the drop-down menus, IIRC.

I have the same problem, with a little difference: my copy is the "normal" retail version of the game. I purchased it this afternoon in Italy (here the game was released only on Monday). I have my serial number ( a 25 numbers and letters code) printed directly on 1 of the CDs, without the famigerate European "GC2-" at the beginning. NO WAY to register the game: my serial number is INVALID in the download page of this official game site, for Stardock Central and for the Link above.
Now I haven't any more ideas...
