Idea for Economics

I have played a bunch of this game since I have bought it and it is fantastic.

One thing I have difficulty with, especially on large or bigger maps, is understanding what is happening with my economy from a micro standpoint. In the tax/production screen (don't remember it's formal name) there is a macro view of your economy - I.e.- how much is directed to each form of spending/maintenance etc...What would be great if there was a screen that could detail the same information but on a planet for planet basis....I.e - a mini balanace sheet for each planet....

I think this would help a lot because on harder difficulties micromanagement is the name of the game......and on a huge map, when you have 35+ planets mid-game it is extremely time consuming to flip through each planet manually and determine what's going on.......

All I want is a little screen that would break down income/spending/what each of the improvements is doing for my planet....and the effects of those improvements on morale/population max/taxes etc etc.....

Do I hear any support?

There is a screen that already shows this. Click on the empire button and then select the "Colonies" tab. It will show income, morale, and production for each of your worlds. Each unit of production or research costs one BC.

hmmm, weird, it won't let me reply to this post, only gives me the chance to "add comment" ...

Same here!

That would be awesome! All in all, I think GC2 does a great job of giving you stats (I love all the detail in the F6 page), but you're right in that its all at the macro level. And there is a distinct lack of information on the micro (or individual planet) level, which makes it unecessarily difficult to get through the learning curve.

One way they could easily add the kind of information you're looking for is by expanded information in the tooltips. Right now, you can get tooltips on influence and approval numbers, as in the following:

However, they need to hire a tech writer or something, because the current tooltips are rather cryptic (I think). They could also use some work on formatting them, so you could see how numbers add up more clearly.

Simply having a mini-balance sheet on the income tool tip on would be a wonderful thing!

Do I hear any support?

Hear, hear! I second the motion!

No, not at all. What I think the poster is asking for is a breakdown of how that income number you're referring to is derived. Seeing more information on where this number is coming from will help us learn how to prioritize our colony management decisions.
