Freighters: how to create a trade roure from non-home planet?

Hi all!
Does anyone know, how to create a trade route from, say, planet "A" to planet "B", using a freighter built on the planet "C"? It looks like the trade route is always created from the freighter's Home planet. And what if I want the planet to be a commercial center, but it doesn't have enough manufacturing capabilities to build freighter?

Currently can not do this as there is no way to set a homeplanet for a ship or class of ships in GC2. Although, this could be a good idea for a future upgrade to the game or a GC3 thing...

I read another post a bit ago where traders should be allowed to move to more than one planet, could fit in with your suggestion here, kinda kill two ships one one cannon. Allow homeworld to be set for ship, allow single route but following on the with the gist of the game allow more than one trade point in the route, money keeps going up but than again so does the danger of a pirate intercept as the trader is worth more on its second and or subsequent lets.

Keeps with the game theme of cost vs gain. I believe.

Definitely could be reworked in my opinion. I was mystified by this when I first started playing. The user needs the ability to flag a home port for a trader, not just the place its built.

Hrm. Anyone ever try making a freighter, then taking it to orbit another world, then to a friendly world? I haven't, am curious if this would create the trade route between those two.

There is no way and its good that way otherwise you coudl exploit it. Only thing I would agree maybe is to change freighter home planet after you enter it's orbit, otherwise you could build a ship at a planet close to the alien space and set the home to a far away planet and you got a long traderoute.

It doesnt work.

I dont really consider that an exploit building it in one place and sending it somewhere else........ but I definitely agree that the Freighter would need to make the journey to its intended point of origin before it could commence its trade route.

Uhm, what happens if you trade for a freighter and then send that freighter to an alien planet? What if you send it to a planet of the same race that gave you the freighter?

When a trade route is created and the freighter doesnt have a home world, the nearest world owned by your civ becomes its homeworld from what I read from a dev a couple of weeks back.

This currently isn't an option...trade routes are always between the planet that built the freighter and the planet it lands on...but the ability to change this info could probably be added to the trade-route screen in an update. Sorry!

edit: wow, guess this window has been open for a while...i'll have to learn to hit "refresh" on empty posts before responding
