a few questions, problems with Mike Bryant's Arrow WB theme

I have had some trouble with Mike Bryant's "Arrow" pseudo-Vista WB skin. I don't think the problem is with Window Blinds itself, as I have applied other skins and not encountered the problems I've had with Arrow. I had to reboot my computer several times just to get it to skin everything properly. Even then, some menus (like in IE) looked black and impossible to read, others were fine. It seemed to be random. Also, this is the only skin that Norton has had a problem with. I guess I could exclude Norton from the apps list, but I haven't had the problem with any other skin.

Perhaps since Arrow is the first theme with transparencies I've tried to use, maybe that's the problem? Anyone else have problems with Arrow? BTW- how come MicroSoft asked KoL to remove his fake Vista, but this one is still available? Just curious...

Oh yeah, I know someone will ask for this:

Well, looks like it got to the WB forum after all.

is that the trial version? the trial only uses per pixel on the skins installed - it won't use per pixel on downloaded skins.

current updated drivers?
Well, I suppose there might be a new driver for my graphics card. I always hesitate to make an upgrade unless there's a problem. Besides, the Arrow theme was acting strange...slowing down the system, too. And it was the only skin doing that.  Hmm...I can check with Radeon to see if there is a new driver available, though.

have you tried any other skins with transparencies yet?

I don't think so. Maybe I should try another. Got any suggestions for a fairly clean-looking one?

Meanwhile, there's an update of WB5 available in SDC.

DreamLand by JJ Ying is clean and glassy

Thanks, I'll try it and see if I experience the same problems or not.

Bichur's company web blocker has him cut off from WC...
Hey, wait-- Bichur, how did you post here if you can't get in? StarDock?

leafdesigner, what version of the ATI drivers are you using?

I have been tinkering the last few days between 2D and 3D due to some issues, that has put me back to 6.1.
With 6.3 I was actually getting black menus with this, though I'm using an older version without the palantir start button.

So many Vista WB's going about http://www.deviantart.com/view/29275668/ see if that has any black issues...

There should be a way from SD into the other parts of the WC forum...

Nope.
It's kinda funny though...it's blocked because of unauthorized apps. yet the apps it refers to are found at stardock which it lets me into.

Well, I'm back. Something screwy was going on and I was locked out of the forums for a while. It kept saying that there was something wrong with my account and it didn't recognize the password. Then, I go away for a while and- poof, I 'm back in.

Anyway, I tried the DreamLand skin and it seemed fine- only one minor issue with Yahoo, but it seemed to clear up. So apparantly, there's no problem with transparent skins per se.

Here it is: 6.14.10.6458

Yes, isn't that a fairly old build of WB5 showing in his system info? Or have you updated leafdesigner?

Supposed to be a quote in the last one...grrr

I purchased WindowBlinds only about 3 weeks ago, so it's pretty new. It's version 5.0. Is there an update?
There are definately updates since the build you are showing in your system info. I believe even if you only purchased Windowblinds you can download Stardock Central Link and download the updates. I show 5.01.002 as being released today. That may help with your problem.

I have Stardock Central. I'll give it a try. Thanks!

BTW- how do I get an icon to show up with my screen name on these forums?
Hmmm...I went to Tools/check for application updates, checked the box for  the WindowBlinds update and then clicked on the "update now" button...but nothing happened. I've had some trouble with Stardock Central before.

leafdesigner, to get an icon to show with you name, click the "My Account" tab on the top right of the page, and click on the "Update Images" tab. You can upload your icon there.
As far as SDC, I don't know for sure. Make sure your acct info is there so it will let you update. Hopefully someone from WC or SD will see this and have an answer... it always works ok for me...most of the time.
