Economy Starbase + Foreign Trade Routes.

Ok..... once and for all.... I want to know. Not opinions but solid surety about this.

I was totally under the impression that economy starbases with modules enhancing trade routes only added value to your own trade routes. Even the loading screen hint indicates this by saying "enhances your trade routes". However, so many people keep saying that they also affect other civs routes to you, I want to know for sure.

I don't really understand if they do.... If they do, does it also increase the value of the route for the AI civ? Does it also mean that your economy starbases affect AI to AI trade routes?

So... is this the case in Gal Civ 2.... or are people basing their knowledge on Gal Civ 1?

I tried to test it tonight by not having any of my own routes..... watched the AI ones coming in for a few turns then built an economy starbase with +20%.... I honestly didn't see any difference at all. The numbers remained the same over the next few turns.

It's not vastly important in the greater scope of things.... but I keep reading it and now I want to know 100% either way!

Bumping for having a real question on the front page, not just a collection of whines, complaints and demands for tactical combat, 1st person shoot-em ups and lemonade sims as part of the game.

I take it then that nobody knows for sure. I am going to go on believing then that they only affect your own trade routes.

*bump from the depths*

I see some people posting that might have the facts about this.

I would also love to know some more details on this. I have placed a few trading posts along some very long trade routes. Since in my first game, my shortest trade route is something like 185 turns, it seems that it will take quite a while for me to collect data on this personally.

*Someone* out there must have the skinny on how trading posts affect trade route income. It's not in the Wiki yet (although that data would be a great addition), so any help would be appreciated!!!

I've asked this question in 4 seperate threads and never gotten an official answer, but more people have said "yes, you get the benefit from enemy routes" than have said no. But I did get both answers.

I believe trade works both ways in all respects. If you make X amount from a trade route, so does the other guy. If that's the case (and I believe it is, since that's the way the game seems to be designed by all the information available), then yes, trade starbases affect the other guy as well.

Bearing in mind that I was probably one of the people who said no..... and I probably said it 3 times ( ).... that might not count for much! hehe

See, I dont really mind if the other guy makes a living at the same time.... but I can't seem to increase foreign trade routes financial potential for me with my starbases. Either a) I'm just not looking hard enough or b) Your starbases dont actually reap any rewards of foreign trade routes.

I suppose I could try and set up a more effective test than the simple look and see ones I have so far.

I need to find the button that will make this thread jump up and down until a Stardockian notices it and gives us the final verdict!

How can this question not be answered yet from Frogboy I don't understand.

He probably quite literally hasn't seen it!
