In-game text constantly refers to "humanity"

Even if you are playing as the Yor!

So I start a game as the "Replon Hierarchy", a customized version of the Yor... OK, fine and dandy... What's this, though? Half the time when I research a tech, the message says something about "humanity's" new discovery or a new era for "the human race"...

Yeah I noticed this too....not that big of a deal...should be an easy fix.

Actually, I found the descriptions of the technology really lacking and poor. The game itself is excellent, but seeing "w00t" and "r0x0rz" for the descriptions on some techs really is bad and takes out the immersion of the game.

The comics in the text are very fine but the mention of Humanity and human race every time I play as a alien or custom race is really annoying. If the Humans are not playing or got extinct it is even more of a eyesore.

You can just go into \data\english\TechTree.xml and just change the description to something more pleasing to you...
Open the file in notepad or some other editor and change the Description and Details sections (see below)

*Snide comment my addition

Also playing as the Drengin, I thought the comments about the Drengin rather distasteful!

It's fine by adding some comic relief, but there seems to be so little creativity to make the techs be a bit more than just their name. The Gal Civ II universe is so fricken awesome and well crafted that it is a shame that the techs arn't fleshed out at all.

Chekhov: We do NOT impose democracy on others. We do believe that every planet has a sovereign claim to human rights.

Azetbur: "Human rights." Even the name is racist. The Federation is basically a Homo Sapiens-only club.

I agree. the techs were funny the first time. now they seem like they were rushed. the jokes are pretty lame after u see them for the twentieth time. especially the one about the 'marketing dept's day off'... ruined the mood entirely.
