We Need a Flight Director/Computer

What I mean to say, is that when you are contemplating sending a ship out into the cold, hard vacuum of space, it would be nice to know things like how long it will take to get there, and what will it's projected routing look like. I fly helicopters IRL, and just about every FOB or flight planning room you step into has a large scale map on the wall with a string fastened to that facilities location. the string has black marker lines on it at regular intervals, so you can run the string to anywhere else on the map and instantly know how far it is. There's also a protractor fastened to many of the "fancier" strings, so you also know heading. There needs to be something like that in this game. One scenario would be: you need to build a colony ship with a little more range to get to that planet that is out in the middle of no where. How much life support do I need to put on it, and how much slower will that make it from the stock model?

Anyway... I bet the developers read these posts from time to time. I did something about "fleet managers" in the patch notes. I wonder if this is what they have in mind?

Fleet managers will likely be stuff to allow you to check the stats of the ships within fleets without having to disband the fleet itself.

The ETA for ship movements might be an interesting addon.. but it should probably be optional, and it's hardly a must-have feature - the computer usually auto-centers you on whatever ship isn't moving.

that and if you have a fleet selected, then

Along those lines... i want way points. I want my fast mover fleets to patrol what is left of the pitiful Terran Alliance on Auto Attack.

It seems that auto attack keeps them stationary but move to attack nearby vessel. I want a patrol option other than clicking auto explore and auto attack together.

Another good thing with these way points is to get to see where ships are flying (a blue dotted line indicated the ship's path), this way if there is an incorrect click, we don't get to have a fleet sent to the other corner of the galaxy.

I find it hard to use the movement points of ship without exceding myself, like I have 9 MP and I want to use them, and sometimes I click outside the movement range and the ship goes into autopilot for one MP only...

On another topic... don“t you think that autopilot should happen in the middle of the turn? Or at the end, but giving you the choice of using the remaining points... Because if they are any movement points left from it they are lost...

I think they should apply the movement scheme from Civ IV... It is very good and more movement point efficient...
