THE PAULOS NEED YOUR HELP! ==_==bug report==_==

Ship transfer bug

The Paulos, a minor race, are being attacked by the arrogant Terran Alliance. Having most of their trade either going to or coming from the Paulos, and not wanting to directly attack the humans, the Covenant send the Paulos 8 fighters and 8 capitol ships, and funds to support their resistance.

Thing is, upon transfer of the ships, which would no doubt turn the tide of war in the Paulos favor, all engines were mysteriously sabotaged and rendered utterly useless. All the transfered ships read 0/9 moves week after week and are unable to leave Covenant territory. Needless to say, with the Covenants military power now cut nearly in half, and the Paulos' reinforcements not able to make it to the battle, the minor race was exterminated and the planet was raped of its resources by the vile Humans.

Nobody knows what caused the mysterious engine failure of the Paulos reinforcements. There are rumors that human spys working within the Covenant government had sabotaged the ships, but leader Rasumee' denys this, saying "The possibility of human spys amoung us is absolute zero. Dont you think a being that hideous would kinda stand out in a crowd of grunts?"

Just thought I'd add a little flavor to it. But yea, this should be looked into by the devs, because it caused the holocaust that was brought upon the poor Paulos.

One quick work-around is: Save your game then reload it. This usually fixes it in my games.

Edit: Actually, this isn't true, it fixed it TWICE, but I haven't been giving my ships to other races that much and sometimes I just didn'T do it so the ships disappeared. But still, it worked everytime I tried it. Nice story by the way

I've found that when I donate to minor races even saving reloading doesn't make them do anything with them.

Its not that they dont do anything with them.. its that they cant. I noticed that when the ships are ejected from my planets, on the next turn the AI formed them into fleets.. but they couldnt move them because this bug keeps the ships movements at zero, turn after turn.

The ships are out of their range. They can't move them.

Move the ships to their space and *then* gift them.

The minor AI needs some revamp they don't know how to use military ships.

That shouldn't be true...when wormholes move your ships out of range, you can still move them back to your space. I've also seen minor races build starbases that were nowhere near their planet, so their range may not be as limited as some people think. I'm not sure.

Do minor races even have a range? I always see them bulding starbases extremely far away...

I have noticed that too. If I were a guessing man I would say monors had no range.

I think (*think*) that the AI may not bother to issue orders if his ship is out of range.

Also, their constructors are likely filled with +range ups. Your warships aren't, cus range is mostly useless except if you want to war a civ you're not bordering.

that fails to explain the 0/9 moves - sounds like a bug

Yea I dont think this is an issue of range. Infact, I even had a small fleet of War Gods (destroyer class, my creation) stationed just a few parsecs away from their planet (fighting off the vulturous Korx) and I gave it to the Paulos and it had the same problem. This bug doesnt seem to apply to any major civs.

If anyone else has this problem, you should post and let us know.
