Senators in Empires

What do they do?

Hi,

I wonder what senators do in an empire and what is the difference between them and "normal" players? Can anyone give me a hint?

There is no real difference. The senator position is given to a member by the Emperor for any number of reasons. Normally he will let you know why

Brown nose the Emperor and he will make you his senator.

Or be the Emperor's favourite horse, and you can become a senator as well.

(It was never clear if Caligula was simply a nut, or was intentionally insulting the Senate when he did that)

Senators can invite/approve new memebers if you set your empire to closed/invite only.
